Social media has become an integral part of many businesses, including yours, and there are multiple ways you can use these platforms to effectively market your business to your target audience. Here are 5 ways on how to use social media for marketing your business
1) Get followers
So, you have your business page set up, but who’s going to see it? Don’t worry; there are plenty of ways you can get followers. Start by reaching out to people who are following similar businesses on social media; they’re already interested in your niche and might be just as interested in what you have to say. Also, consider cross-promoting your account by mentioning it on your profiles, but don’t overdo it.
2) Join forums
If you are planning on using social media marketing, you must join relevant online forums. The more familiar you become with different platforms and business models, and how they operate, the better off your own business will be in terms of managing social media effectively. This will also help you connect with other professionals who can help make your small business more effective and profitable. Forums offer a wealth of information regarding what’s working now, as well as advice from those who have already made their mark.
3) Engage with industry experts
When you’re first getting started, it’s a good idea to get as much advice as possible from those who have experience in your niche. It’s easy to learn how to use social media platforms; what takes more time is learning how best to utilize them and make them work for your business. Take advantage of that knowledge by engaging with those who are successful in your field and asking them how they use social media successfully. The more information you can glean from industry experts, the better prepared you will be when setting up your accounts.
4) Run contests, giveaways, and promotions
This is one of my favorite ways to boost engagement on social media. Whether you’re offering a discount, freebie, or sweepstakes, creating an incentive encourages followers and fans to share your content and spread your brand. With that said, contests aren’t without their challenges: You’ll want to make sure you have a plan in place for legal issues that may arise, such as giving away prizes you don’t own or preventing participants from entering repeatedly.
5) Build relationships with influencers
Influencers on social media sites like Twitter and Instagram can have a big impact on your brand, whether they’re celebrities or industry leaders with strong followings. If you meet them, exchange business cards, or get their contact information in some other way, reach out and introduce yourself. Then ask if they might be willing to share your content or give a shoutout to your brand. Some influencers, especially those who work directly with brands, may even be open to formal partnerships.
Not all marketing strategies are created equal. There’s a lot of noise out there, so it’s important to make sure you’re using effective channels that your target audience is consuming.
