Every business wants to make its social media strategy more engaging, and humor is one easy way to do it. But, if you’re not careful, you can also run the risk of coming off as silly or over the top, which can turn people off and actually end up hurting your brand image instead of improving it. 1) Tic Tac

Tic Tac uses humor in their “No Such Thing As Bad Breath campaign’. The ad shows a man with terrible breath, complete with an angry red speech bubble containing, Hey lady! What, are you just gonna sit there and smell me? It was refreshingly different from any other deodorant ad out there and it was also hilarious. They used humor to create a playful experience for their audience.

2) Kit Kat

One of Kit Kat’s most successful campaigns focused on its flavor, coconut. The idea was so simple and innovative that it gave people an opportunity to be creative with their new chocolatey snack, even before they bought it. Kit Kat’s official YouTube channel featured videos of test-tube taste tests for non-existent flavors like mango and rainbow sherbet. After watching these videos, viewers were invited to leave a comment describing their own dream flavors for future releases.

3) Red bull

Red Bull is probably one of the most recognized brands in sports. It’s also a great example of using humor as a way to engage people on social media. Before purchasing Red Bull, you may have never thought about what that word meant, let alone your need for it in your life. But once you began seeing those little cans everywhere, with their slogan Red Bull gives you wings, you couldn’t stop thinking about it.

4) Lego Movie

The Lego Movie, released in 2014, has quickly become one of Hollywood’s funniest movies. If you want to get more laughs online and build a bond with your audience while using humor, just take a few tips from The Lego Movie. First, make sure your content is relevant,if it doesn’t relate to what you do or sell, don’t post it. Second, try adding some fun graphics-like memes or GIFs,to liven up your posts and keep them interesting. Finally, remember that timing is everything; posting at odd hours can help generate attention for both serious content as well as lighthearted posts that might otherwise not be seen by many users.

5) Old Spice

Old Spice is one of America’s oldest deodorant brands. It may not have been one of its most popular, but there’s no denying that its marketing team has come up with some great campaigns. The company prides itself on adhering to their humorous roots, which can be seen in all of their videos and other social-media campaigns. They don’t take themselves too seriously, and it works for them.

6) Charmin

Who doesn’t love a little humor in their lives? You know, something that brightens up your day and makes you smile. And at least as far as advertisers are concerned, humor seems to be having its moment. Case in point: Charmin has been using humorous commercials for years, but they recently kicked it up a notch with an ad featuring bears wearing human clothes and singing I Wanna Be Like You from The Jungle Book.

7) Pringles

On November 9, 2012, Pringles Canada posted a picture of an upside-down Pringles can with a message that read No matter how you stand it, we all love chips. The post received more than 3,000 likes and was retweeted nearly 400 times. In addition, BuzzFeed listed Pringles as one of nine brands using humor effectively on Twitter.
